- The Glencoe Historical Society opens a new exhibit, 1940s: A Time of Transition at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 17 at the Eklund History Center, 377 Park Avenue. Other exhibits include What’s in Our Name? and a collection of political campaign buttons and other paraphernalia. They join the three permanent exhibits: Old Glencoe (1830-1890s), Glencoe’s Business District, and the Eklund Furniture Workshop.

- Society Thanks Friends for Help with Garden
- Glencoe Historical Society thanks its friends for their support as Phase One of the Garden Renovation Project was completed on August 24, 2004. Using $25,000 raised mainly from small contribution the Society was able to clear debris, install a pathway, amend the soil, and plant understory trees and shrubs. Additional funds will be needed to complete the Project with additional plantings and other features. [more…]

- Sports of All Sorts exhibit features sports equipment from the Society’s collection including: wooden skis, four-wheel roller skates, wooden tennis racquets, and bathing suits before the bikini. Also on display is an alcove filled with tee-shirts and hats from Glencoe Park District sports programs offered for youths through the years. A members’ preview is set for Feb. 6, 7:30–9 p.m.

- Glencoe Historical Society’s Map Exhibit features dozens of maps including reproductions of Indian location maps as well as an 1875 hand-drawn and hand-colored atlas showing the “U.S. Roadway – to Green Bay,” forerunner of the modern Green Bay Road, and railroad maps of the current Metra line when it was the Chicago and North Western as well as the North Shore electric line. - Engraved bricks for sale to honor Glencoe families.
- The Glencoe Historical Society is selling vintage Park Avenue brick, circa 1915, for inclusion in the Eklund History Center and Garden Commemorative Pathway. The path will run from the entrance of the garden on Park Avenue to the Eklund History Center at 377 Park Avenue at the back of the garden.
