‘Twill be in April, Two Thousand and Eight
An event momentous, dare we say great?
A village celebration, a contest historical
This question’s for you, and it’s not rhetorical.

What could involve all manner of residents?
Have passing reference to non-visiting presidents?
Fun for all ages, harbinger of spring
Is the Amazing Chase the next best big thing?

Fun, spring, history—and the Amazing Chase is off and running Sunday, April 27th. From 2 to 4 p.m., teams of competitors will be sent around Glencoe, finding clues and bonuses, in the Glencoe Historical Society’s version of television’s favorite, The Amazing Race.

The Amazing Chase is designed for families and friends. Teams can be anywhere from two to six person, formed by the participants themselves. Stepping off from the Eklund History Center, 377 Park Ave., teams will be sent to various locations in the Village’s downtown. At each location, the team has to complete a task before moving on to the next site. Prizes will be awarded to participants.

In the short space of two hours, you can learn Glencoe history, solve devious puzzles – most in the verse form of our opening – and have a great time, rain or shine.

Entry forms will be available at the Glencoe Public Library or the Glencoe Historical Society. Free admission and refreshments served at the end of the hunt. The event is set for April 27, 2-4 p.m. at the Eklund History Center and Garden, 377 Park Ave. Call the historical society at 847.835.0040 for questions. Be a part of Glencoe history and join your friends for the Amazing Chase.
