Brush off your best summer hat, gauzy dress or plaid trousers for the Glencoe Historical Society’s annual Garden Party, set this year for July 21st in the Eklund Garden, 377 Park Ave.

The Garden Party, which is an annual event, will feature food stations throughout the garden for a pleasant event supper and a new exhibit, Life is a Beach, So Dig Right In, inside the Eklund History Center museum.

Last year’s garden party was the highlight of the summer season with attendees raving about the food and the ambience, the beautiful Eklund Garden, donated to the historical society by Sara “Sally” Eklund and opened in 2001. The garden renovation is complete and new dogwoods, birches and lilac bushes have been planted to replace the landscaping material that was removed in the renovation.

The garden daily draws many who come just to enjoy the secluded patio for lunch. The Garden Party will highlight the patio with music and lights and serve as a central food service area.

The new exhibit will feature swim suits through the eras, from the wool outfits of the turn of the 20th century to today’s bikinis as well as artifacts of the Glencoe beach.

Tickets for the historical society’s annual fund raiser are $75 each. Call 847.835.0040 to make reservations.
