The Glencoe Historical Society will host a Garden Party at 6 p.m. July 29th in the beautiful Eklund Garden, featuring a cocktail buffet and the opening of Mrs. Sharpe Steps Out, an exhibit of vintage clothing from the Helen Sharpe Collection.

The Garden Party, a first hosted by the historical society, will take place in the garden, with food stations throughout and music on the patio. Attendees are invited to wear their garden best—wide-brimmed hats, garden-party dresses and even gloves, if they choose, to match the clothing from the Helen Sharpe Collection that will be on display in the Eklund History Center.

A collection of 500 items was donated to the historical society when Helen Sharpe died, earlier this year. While the curatorial staff is cataloguing the entire collection, seven dresses have been selected to match the Garden Party theme and will be on display in the museum. Roses on satin, peonies on black chiffon and other dresses from the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, will be seen, together with gloves, hats and shoes accessories.

Dinner will be $50 per person if reservations are made by July 10th; $65 afterward. Join the historical society for a wonderful evening under the stars in the beautiful Eklund Garden. Call 847.835.0040 for additional information.
