Kovnat hangs wren house in Eklund garden.
Twenty-six-year resident of Glencoe and master woodworker Irving Kovnat has donated handcrafted wren houses to the Glencoe Historical Society’s Eklund Garden. Irv said, “This is such a great place that I wanted to make a contribution.” He added, “It is wonderful that this quiet, peaceful place has been preserved.”
Irv is also offering to donate a handcrafted child’s wooden toy and replica school clock for the Historical Society’s upcoming exhibit entitled Glencoe Schools Through the Years. Furthermore, he is willing to work on short-term renovation projects in the Museum. Though trained as a mechanical engineer and practicing for many years as a production engineer, his passion has always been woodworking. Irv’s basement is filled with tools and machines which he has collected from the age of 17.
