June is approaching quickly so it is the last call for brick orders for the Commemorative Pathway at the Glencoe Historical Society. Personalized bricks are a wonderful way to honor a family member or special person, and offer opportunities for a unique present for Mother’s or Father’s Day.

The Historical Society has been creating its Commemorative Pathway in the Eklund Garden from the sidewalk on Park Avenue through to the entrance of the Eklund History Center, 377 Park Avenue, for the past two years. In the circle just beyond the entrance, many families and friends have placed personalized bricks with the names of children, the family or friends. You can add a brick to this path, created from paving bricks originally laid circa 1915 and used for Park Avenue, and have the brick(s) dedicated at the Historical Society’s annual Strawberry Sociable, June 12, 2005.

The bricks help create an entrance walk through the Eklund Garden, support the ongoing building and program development of the Eklund History Center and Garden and provide you with a personal share in Glencoe’s history. The property leading the Eklund Center is being transformed into a world-class garden that will be used for public events or quite contemplation. Featured prominently in downtown Glencoe, the garden entrance and walkway will provide a fitting pathway to Glencoe’s past.

Bricks are available for purchase at the cost of $100 per brick, with three lines of engraving. Additional engraved bricks can be purchased for $75 each.

To order bricks, contact the Glencoe Historical Society, 847.835.0040 or order through our Web site, www.glencoehistoricalsociety.org.
