Dollhouse Exhibit Opens Sunday, March 3 (Feb 25, 2002)

GLENCOE—History comes alive with the American Girl Dolls, as the dolls live through different periods of American history. A number of these dolls illustrate how girls in Glencoe during the immigrant period after the Civil War, Teddy Roosevelt’s era, and the Second World War.

The Glencoe Historical Society is holding a celebration of America, American Girl Dolls and American girls at 2–4 p.m. Sunday at 377 Park Ave.

Join Samantha, Kit, Kirsten, Molly and the rest for a short history of how girls lived in Glencoe during different eras—and lots of crafts, games and a tea party. We’ll try on hats, play games from different eras and, of course, enjoy cookies and lemonade as all the girls would have in their time.

The cost is $5 per person. Girls—and their moms, grandmothers or other adults—are welcome. Registration is being taken at 847.835.0400.

The Historical Society is open to the public at the same time. The current exhibit is a collection of miniature rooms by Mabel Mason, mother of longtime Glencoe resident Ellen Bryant. Included are a model library, backyard, men’s and wedding boutiques, and a Spanish mission. Don’t miss them!
