Welcome to the Glencoe Historical Society
Founded in 1937, the Glencoe Historical Society is devoted to the collection, protection and preservation of items pertaining to the Village of Glencoe, its residents and its formal and informal institutions. While focused on Glencoe, Illinois, our collection also includes materials related to Glencoe, Scotland. In addition to presenting exhibits based on our collection, we also hold informational meetings and social events for residents and visitors.
We are a nonprofit organization supported through membership, contributions to capital and operating funds, and the sales of five books we wrote about Glencoe.
Our Museum contains several permanent exhibits as well as multiple thematic exhibits each year drawn from the Society’s collection. The Research Center manages the collections and is available to genealogists, historians, and others who have questions about Glencoe’s history. Both the Museum and the Research Center have regular hours and also open by appointment; call for details.
